Chicago has been a huge hub to many great artists, and this summer specifically, with hosting special events in new spaces. Virgil Abloh is back in his hometown and has been on the move with creating his Museum of Contemporary Art Exhibition, “Figures of Speech”, along with the merch store Church & State. However, that’s not all- there is also a Louis Vuitton pop-up with Chicago-only designs in the Fulton Market neighborhood coupled a Nike Re-Creation Center that Abloh designed.

This week, the buzz is around the grand opening of the MCA exhibition and a few sneak peeks have been given, displaying unreleased samples of Off-White and Nike. The display contains sneakHERs that were part of the Off-White x Nike The Ten collection which launched in 2017. But we already know how Off-White drops go… so the question is, will these yellow and white Air Jordan 1’s ever be released? Abloh be warned, the CNK community is on the prowl.

While different colorways of the 1’s have made it to retailers already- this sample just hits that much harder! We’re obsessing over the yellow overlay for contrast, exposed foam and stitched Swooshes. Not to mention the infamous Off-White deconstructed look and signature zip tie in black. And we did all peep the “AIR” branding on the midsoles, right? The drip on these is unbelievable and a summer drop would be every sneakHER girl’s dream!

Until then, these shoes can be only be admired from afar. If you’re in the Chicago area and interested in checking out the exhibition for yourself, it will be running from June 10 to September 22. All ticketing information can be found on the MCA homepage.
