It's safe to say that CNK's 2018 was all about manifestation. At the beginning of the year, we proceeded with planning original content and always came to the conclusion - AIM HIGHER. We threw out large ideas that may have not made sense at the time, but hard work (and prayers) began to put our vision into actionable steps paving the way to a common goal.

While all of us at CNK worked hard to create a positive platform serving as a voice in SneakHER Culture, it was a challenge to take a step back and celebrate all the wins (large or small) given the fast pace. In 2018, we added to our staff and acknowledging all of our collective accomplishments was critical for growth to happen. We were so happy to bring our CNK Crew along for the ride, so let's take a sneakHER stroll down memory lane. Even though we have endless favorites (including our Sneaker Closets - Sneaker Diaries - Chick Chats), we were able to drill down to our top 10. Let's get this party started...

10. THE GREAT DIVIDE: MARKETING TO WOC AND WHY THE SNEAKER INDUSTRY SHOULD TAKE NOTE

Weighing in on important topics within the sneaker industry is critical. With the help of an amazing sole sister, Evelyn, we published a thought-provoking piece on how imperative it is for brands to acknowledge the buying power of women (especially WOC).

9. SNEAKER DIARY: AGENDA, OFF-WHITE x RASTACLAT

Teaming up with other empowering brands is a given in our community. Not only did we ‘Seek the Positive’ with Rastaclat at AGENDA in Long Beach, we also got a sneak peak of what’s on the horizon for female consumers.

8. WELCOME TO SNEAKHER ASSEMBLY: EDITORS WEIGH IN ON THE NEW AIR JORDAN 1 ‘REBEL’

This year we started a new series with our SneakHER Assembly. Our goal was to have our editors go head to head regarding their candid feelings on a specific pair of kicks each time. The good, the bad, and more. The truth shall set you free, riiight?

7. EVENT RECAP: ART N SOLE PRESENTS “GIRLS LOVE STREET ART” BIKE TOUR

We took a #SweatwithCNK initiative down to H-town partnering with some amazing ladies to flex our sneakHER game, use beautiful street art as a backdrop for photos, and enjoy a nice day for a Downtown bike tour.

6. SNEAKHER GIRLS’ GUIDE TO: ORGANIZING YOUR KICKS X THE CONTAINER STORE

Sometimes it’s hard to let go of our shoe boxes, but as our collections grow and evolve - so does the way we organize them. CNK had the opportunity to team up with The Container Store to show our crew how grabbing their stackable drop-front clear boxes was a great decision. BTW - we share products we love to use.

5. RECAP: NIKE AIR SOCIETY CHICAGO 2018

In 2018, we were invited to be members of the Air Society Chicago for a 5-week journey to ignite our creativity and fuel ambition. Powered by the Swoosh, the goal with Air Society was more than just cool shoes and cute fits. The overall idea was designed to elevate the most important aspects of our lives.

4. EVERY GIRL IS A “QUEEN” THANKS TO SERENA WILLIAMS AND VIRGIL ABLOH

Remember what we said about manifestation? Our CNK Founder had Serena Williams on her vision board for 2018. In late summer, CNK was invited to the Big Apple to witness the legendary Serena and her black girl magic. Definitely something we will never forget.

Our Style Editor curated not one, but two amazing editorials right out of the windy city. From Summertime Chi to the beautiful yet brutal winter time, the sneakHER style was set in motion by careful creative direction.

We partnered with Centre in Dallas for our first Nike Air Max Day event. It was a huge success thanks to all the hard work put in and support received from people in and out of the sneaker community.
