Here at CNK we are always on the lookout for new sneakHER accessories and when we came across these sneaker candles, made by a WOMAN, we had to stop mid scroll. We often champion female black owned businesses and we feel it is important to share with our CNK crew.

Before we get to the actual candle though we wanted to sit down and ask a few questions with the sneaker candle mastermind herself, Andrea Bertrand.

I started making candles in my kitchen about 2 years ago. I've always been crafty. My mom taught me how to knit and crochet when I was 6, so I really enjoy making things. And I LOVE candles, so it just felt right. I learned how to make candles by joining a lot of facebook groups, watching a ton of youtube videos, and I did a lot of research. It's harder than people think!

The name ‘Pretty Honest Candles’ actually started as a beauty blog, and I wanted to do makeup and talk about real stuff. But then realized I wasn't passionate about it. Also, when people ask me to describe myself the first thing I say is that I'm pretty honest person.

When starting a new ‘Pretty Honest Candle’, I do extensive research on the scent and feel I'm going for. Then I let the rest flow. The scent is what drives everything else. For my favorite candle scent...I can't pick an overall favorite, but Pineapple Sage and Fireside are definitely in the top.

The inspiration for these sneaker candles came from originally making them as a holiday gift for a client who loves sneakers! Us sneakerheads gotta stick together!

The impact these candles have had on my life really comes from the people I've met and been able to connect with have been amazing! Through these candles, I want to reach and connect with more people and let them know, they can build their own empire.

When going about choosing a scent for the sneaker candles, I wanted them to be fresh scents. Almost like a connection of brand new sneakers. You know fresh sneakers, fresh scent. Also both for males and females not a scent that was either one. Who evers house the candles were in, it fits.

My favorite sneakers of all time has to be the Nike Air Max 1 Atmos Elephant - hands down! In the future I hope to cop a pair of Air Max 95’s. I've really been into the Air Max 95s lately, but I'm picky so just trying to find a pair that I'm really feeling.

SneakHER Culture to me is dope women rocking kicks when and how they want. It’s being in the room and making your presence known.

The influence that sneakers have had on my life, business and personally, just comes from my love of sneakers. I've loved shoes forever. Growing up playing ball, the shoes were a statement. And the shoes you walk into the gym with are just as important. You can change the feel of an outfit just by switching out your shoes. That's powerful.
